Tanglewood

Tanglewood is another of Houston’s postwar subdivisions.  Construction here began a number of years after World War II, in 1951. The community was popular with several Houston families and today some well-maintained homes from that era are still available, along with newer, estate homes.

Tanglewood’s boundaries are irregularly configured; it consists of a rectangular area bordered on one side by Chimney Rock, but it angles to the northwest as well, running between the Houston Country Club and Woodway Drive.

The Houston Country Club offers it members great amenities and family-oriented activities. Members and their guests are greeted by the stately, spacious club house, upon arriving. The club house is a tremendous venue for formal occasions. The club’s 18-hole golf course offers several challenges; it opened in 1955, and was designed by Robert Trent Jones.

Grady Park and Tanglewood Park are two subdivision parks enjoyed by Tanglewood residents. Tanglewood Park is between Bering Drive and Woodway Drive. It includes a nice, enclosed “dog park” area where dog lovers can let their pets play off the leash and socialize with other dogs and their owners.

Home prices in Tanglewood range from $550,000 to nearly $7 million. Many homes in Tanglewood are glorious estate homes on beautifully landscaped grounds. They feature extras such as two master bedrooms, chef’s kitchens, stunning ceiling designs, several fireplaces, quarters, and much more.
